Read MoreMicrobiology is a broad discipline encompassing the fields of Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry Virology, Bacteriology and Cell Biology. Department of Microbiology at RLA College started in 1989. It has a dynamic and dedicated teaching faculty.
Students can pursue M.Sc. or integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Molecular Biology, Genetics from various universities. Students can get placement in academia or industry. Job opportunities are available in various industrial sectors such as Pharmaceutical, Health Care, Cosmetics, Agriculture, Food, Dairy and Brewing, Hospitality. There is also lot of scope in the emerging areas of bio-informatics and clinical research. The course would also enable entrepreneur possibilities like setting a clinical laboratory or a biotechnology unit for production of commercially viable products.
The Department has two laboratories with sophisticated equipment to impart students substantial hands on training in basic micro-biology techniques such as culturing and isolation of micro organism as well as advanced molecular biology techniques such as DNA, RNA, protein isolation and characterization.
